Greetings from Rio where we enjoyed a cultural day of relaxation and beautiful city scenes. Today was our one somewhat "free" day when we gave the students a little time to experience the wonder of the city that will host the 2016 Olympics (in the country that will host the 2014 World Cup!!).
Our time in Rio has been very short but the students were able to explore the beaches and lake during an afternoon bike ride. Then, they spent a bit of time jumping waves on Copacabana beach and playing beach soccer with some local youngsters. It was definitely the most unstructured day of our trip!! But it's been a wonderful break and we ended the evening by meeting Dr. Scott's son, Thomas, who has just finished his studies in design and who is also a master surfer. Lastly, we spent an hour at the local market just in front of our hotel.
Tomorrow morning we head to Iguassu Falls and the science adventure continues!!!
